WOSA 10th Annual Sport Shooting Outdoor Challenge - Handgun Event
Saturday, July 14th (Ladies Only), and Sunday, July 15th (Ladies and Men)
This is an introduction to shooting sports available in the Tri-city area. Experience is not required to participate! Certified NRA instructors will provide instruction/orientation in safe gun handling and fundamentals of shooting. Activities are geared to both beginner and experienced shooters. Handguns and ammunition will be provided the day of the event (personal equipment/ammunition will not be allowed). Instruction/orientation, eye and ear protection are mandatory and will be provided. Held rain or shine!
Cost: $20 each day. Participants must be 16 or older to participate (16 and 17 year olds must be accompanied by an adult).
Registration/Orientation: 8am to 12noon each day (no orientations begin after 12:30 p.m.)
Where: Saginaw Field and Stream Club, 1500 N. Gleaner Road, Hemlock, Michigan, off M-46 (Gratiot).
Time: The event will begin both days at 8a.m. and end when all shooters have completed the course.
Courses: Minimum of five (5) courses that may include: IDPA, bullseye, Combat/Service, bowling pins, and more.
Prizes: One handgun to be given away each day, by lucky drawing.

How to Pack Heat & Not Get Burned!
One of GLSSA's affiliated Clubs - Centerline of Calhoun County will be the venue for a novel outreach program for the Calhoun County Republican Party The Calhoun Republican's program has been dubbed How to Pack Heat & Not Get Burned. The Calhoun County Gun Board which consists of Sheriff Al Byam, Prosecuting Attorney John Hallacy along with Clerk - Register of Deeds Anne Norlander and local Attorney Joe Eldred, who teaches the civil liability portion in some CPL classes locally, will all be there to explain the process for acquiring a CPL.
This event on August 8, 2007 is open to the public, and supper from the grill is provided.
So if you know of anyone who may be interested invite them to come.
The range will be open for those who would like to give it a try with experienced instructors on hand with pistols for you from 4 pm to 7 pm. Dinner is next and the discussion follows. We shoot at cardboard targets. Standing, moving and several positions. We have some new moving targets. Fun for all and only $3.00 per shooter.

May 6 (first Sunday due to Mother’s Day) a USPSA/IPSC match will be held at Capitol City Rifle Club (CCRC) in Williamston, MI. For more info visit these websites:

Take I-96 to the Williamston exit (between Howell and Lansing) and then drive north four miles on Williamston Rd. to Germany Rd. Drive on Germany Rd. a half mile west to the CCRC entrance
Sign up starts at 9 AM and the shooting starts at 10 AM. The cost is $15 for CCRC members and $20 for nonmembers. Juniors shoot USPSA for 10 bucks (IDPA and PCC are five bucks for Juniors). Every USPSA match at CCRC will consist of six stages including a classifier. We will have our next USPSA match Sunday, June 10. This and further USPSA matches at CCRC will be held on the second Sunday.
There is also a USPSA match at Livingston Gun Club in Brighton the same time as the CCRC match May 6. If you wish to attend both you may shoot through CCRC match and get to LGC in time to shoot their match, too.
The June match will be the CCRC Open championship, July will be the Limited championship, August will be Limited 10, September will be Production and October will be Revolver. We will award solid walnut plaques for each Class (GM/Master, A, B, C, D) every month.
